Celebrating Dakota’s End of Cancer Treatment

When my dear friend Claudia reached out to me about planning a celebration for her daughter Dakota, I knew it had to be something unforgettable. Dakota had just finished her cancer treatment, and this milestone deserved a party filled with joy, color, and love from all the friends and family who supported her along the way.

We leaned into an ‘80s-inspired vibe—bright colors, bold graphics, and a playful energy that matched Dakota’s strength and spirit. The celebration took place at the stunning @rivergardenweddings, a venue large enough to hold the many guests who came together to honor this victory.

From the moment guests arrived, every detail was designed to bring a smile. Neon pops and whimsical backdrops by @rentbohobabes set the tone, accented with vibrant fringe from @thefringeaesthetic and glowing marquee letters from @alphalitsandiego spelling out Dakota’s triumph.

Guests sipped cocktails from @fignfeatherbarco, danced the night away to music by @theweddingentertainment, and enjoyed a feast from @casanovafishtacos. For dessert, the sweetest touches came from @siftedandsugared, with cookies and cupcakes decorated just for Dakota, plus dreamy cotton candy spun by @swoonful.

The kids had their own fun with a bubble house and pint-sized seating from @inflatesandiego, while grown-ups marveled at the gorgeous florals from @villagefloristco_carlsbad and modern acrylic signage by @jacqueline.b.letters. Elegant linens from @sd_event_planning tied it all together, and @salome_palomino captured every magical moment behind the lens.

As the planner and designer through @inflateeventssandiego, it was such an honor to help create a day that reflected Dakota’s strength, joy, and the unwavering love of her family.

Dakota’s story is one of resilience, faith, and hope—and her “She…BEAT IT!” party was the perfect way to celebrate the light at the end of her journey. 💖
